On the Sides, 2024 Series

Going against traditional notions of painting, this series involves more play, interacting with the audience through the front and sides of the canvas.
I invite viewers into an imagined space where the interplay between themselves, the artwork, and its subjects becomes the heart of the experience. As I paint, I imbue these worlds with my distinctly feminine perspective, weaving imagination and insight into every stroke. By extending my vision beyond the canvas’s edges, I challenge the traditional confines of oil on canvas, dissolving boundaries and opening a portal to deeper explorations of the relationships that unfold within and beyond the frame.

Gaze, 2023-2024 Series

A series commentating on the 2022 Brooklyn Museum Show, "Pablomatic".
My paintings enter into dialogue with Art History and the canonical representations of the female form, utilizing and mimicking old master techniques and colors to insinuate timelessness. The female nude emerges as a dominant subject, carefully situated within imagined natural landscapes, serving as a focal point in my exploration of identity and sexualization within contemporary discourse. However, through the intentional obscurity of genitalia, I prompt viewers to confront the gaze without reducing my subjects to mere objects of sexual desire, regulating the degree of sexualization while engaging with feminist perspectives. I want viewers to question the dynamics of looking and to contemplate the intersections of desire, agency, and control.
